Pangaea Data Limited provides a machine learning based software product to its customers from the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industry for faster identification of patient cohorts based on phenotypes (clinical characteristics and symptoms) from electronic health records (EHRs) and unstructured doctors’ notes. This is critical for detecting patients at risk of diseases, finding genes linked to a phenotype in the context of drug or biomarker discovery, recruiting patients for clinical trials, conducting real world evidence (RWE) studies and matching the right patients with the right drugs. The company's product has demonstrated that its able to find the right patient cohorts at 50x speed and 30% higher accuracy when compared to alternative methodologies such as rule based natural language processing (NLP), keyword extraction and manual means.

The Role

As a web UI developer, you will closely collaborate with the product team and research team. We need our developers to implement the graphical design for our product so it effectively demonstrates the functions of our research technology in the context of the user behaviour and desires. Because you’ll be working with cutting-edge technology, you’ll also get a chance to work closely with researchers. A strong software engineering background and knowledge of Machine Learning especially Natural Language Processing are preferable.

What You'll Do

  • Communicate with the research, product and design teams on requirements

  • Develop and implement the UI design of our product


  • Experience with web development including Javascript and Web programming technology

  • Knowledge and experience of CSS, HTML and Javascript

  • Knowledge and experience of ReactJS

  • Knowledge and experience with RESTful APIs and JSON

  • Familiarity of working with control software such as Git

  • Develop with User Experience at the forefront

  • Provide design and graphical support to the business

Nice to Have

  • Experience in building commercial software systems

  • Experience of full stack development

  • Working knowledge of how to utilise manual and automated testing

  • Delivery methodologies such as Agile

  • Experience of AWS will be an advantage

  • Knowledge of Medical Informatics or related subjects would be an advantage

The interview process will include three rounds. The first round will be a coding (software programming) interview which aims to evaluate your skills of coding and web UI development. You will be asked to solve 2-3 algorithm problems online within limited time independently. The second and third rounds will be interviews with our senior management which will focus on your technical and personal skills, during which you would be expected to answer questions regarding your CV.
